Warranty Sage Terms of Service
Effective date: 17 August 2026
Warranty Sage is a warranty and receipt vault that lives on your phone. The cloud is an
optional mirror of it, never the other way around.
By creating an account or using Warranty Sage ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If
you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by the individual
developer of Warranty Sage, established in Greece ("we", "us"), reachable at
christos@sudo-ezekiel.com.
1. What Warranty Sage Is (and Is Not)
Warranty Sage is a free app for keeping receipts, warranty dates and product photos, and for
being reminded before a warranty expires. The vault on your phone works in full without any
account. An optional, free Google sign-in adds two things: a cloud backup of the vault with
multi-device sync, and receipt scanning.
Warranty Sage is a record-keeping tool only. Specifically:
-
The phone holds the primary copy of your vault. The server holds a mirror of what you
choose to back up. Losing the account, or deleting it, loses the mirror and never the
vault.
-
Expiry dates, reminders and scanned fields are computed from what you enter or confirm.
They are informational. They are not legal advice, not a determination of
your warranty or consumer rights, and not a guarantee that any claim will succeed.
-
A reminder is a notification your own device schedules. Devices, operating systems and
their battery managers can delay or suppress notifications; do not rely on a reminder as
your only record of an important deadline.
-
Receipt scanning produces guesses that you confirm field by field. You are responsible for
checking them; a scanned date or amount is not verified by us.
-
Warranty Sage is not a party to any purchase, warranty, insurance policy or claim you
record in it.
2. Eligibility and Your Account
-
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The local vault has no account and
these terms apply to it only where they say so (sections 5, 10 and 11).
-
Sign-in is with a Google account. Your Google account identifier and, if Google returns
one, your email address come from Google; we add no password of our own.
-
One account per person. Accounts are for individual humans; automated or bulk account
creation is prohibited.
-
You are responsible for keeping your Google account and your devices secure, and for all
activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been
compromised.
- You may not sell, rent, or transfer your account.
3. The Cloud, Storage Limits, and the One-Time Purchase
-
Cloud backup, multi-device sync and receipt scanning are free with a
signed-in account. There is no subscription anywhere in the Service, and no feature of the
local vault ever requires an account.
-
Free accounts can store up to 100 MB of photos in the cloud. One
optional, one-time purchase raises that ceiling to 5 GB for the same
account, permanently. The purchase changes how much the cloud holds for you; it does not
change what you can do.
-
Over your limit, new photos simply stay on your phone and the app says so.
Nothing already uploaded is ever removed because of a limit, on either
tier.
-
Receipt scanning is capped at 10 scans per calendar month, and may be temporarily
unavailable if a global daily ceiling is reached. The add-item form always works by hand.
-
The purchase is made through Google Play Billing under Google Play's own payment terms,
and refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy; beyond what that
policy and applicable consumer law provide, the purchase is non-refundable. Where you have
mandatory rights (for example the EU 14-day withdrawal right, as Google Play implements
it), nothing here reduces them.
-
We may change the storage numbers for new purchases or new accounts; a
ceiling you have already paid for is not lowered afterwards.
4. Acceptable Use
Do not use the Service to:
- Store or transmit unlawful content, malware, or content that infringes anyone's rights.
-
Access or attempt to access other users' data, or probe, attack, overload, or interfere
with the Service.
- Scrape the Service or access it by automated means other than the app itself.
-
Create accounts in bulk, farm scan quotas across throwaway accounts, or otherwise abuse
the free service (including excessive automated requests, or using the cloud as generic
file storage or a relay: it exists to mirror a Warranty Sage vault).
- Reverse-engineer the Service except where law grants you that right regardless of contract.
We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate this section (see Section 9).
5. Your Content
-
You keep ownership of everything you put into Warranty Sage: item records, notes, serial
numbers, and photos ("Your Content").
-
For content you back up to the cloud, you grant us only the license needed to operate the
Service: a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and
serve Your Content back to your own account. Warranty Sage is single-user: Your Content is
never shown to any other user.
-
No rights beyond that are granted. We do not acquire rights to use Your
Content for training machine-learning or AI models, for advertising, or for resale or
licensing to anyone. A receipt you scan is read to extract its fields and then discarded,
as the privacy policy describes.
-
This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our servers, except for short-lived
backups of our infrastructure.
-
You can export your whole vault from within the app at any time, as a single file
containing every item and photo, signed in or not.
6. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what data we collect and how
we handle it, including account deletion. It is part of how we operate the Service but is a
separate document from these terms.
7. Free Service, Availability, and Shutdown
- The app is free, with one optional one-time purchase (Section 3) and no ads.
-
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We aim for reliability but do not
guarantee uptime, error-free operation, or that any feature will remain available.
-
We may change, add, remove, or limit features at any time, and may impose reasonable
technical limits (storage, request rates, scan quotas) to keep a free service viable.
-
Shutdown commitment: if we decide to permanently shut down the Service,
we will give at least 60 days advance notice, in the app and on
warrantysage.whataboutalist.app, and
keep sync and the vault export available throughout that notice period so you can take
your data with you. We send no email, so open the app during that period, or watch the
website. Because the phone holds the primary copy of your vault, a shutdown never takes
your vault with it.
8. Donations
Donations (via the "Buy me a coffee" link) are:
- entirely voluntary;
- non-refundable;
-
not purchases: they unlock no features, storage, content, priority, or
special access of any kind, and confer no rights under these terms;
- not tax-deductible charitable contributions; the operator is not a nonprofit.
Donations are processed by the third-party donation platform under its own terms, in your
browser, outside the app.
9. Termination and Deletion
By you. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time,
in-app (Settings > Delete account) or via
warrantysage.whataboutalist.app/delete-account,
which works without the app installed.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach
these terms, if required by law, or as part of a Service shutdown under Section 7. Where
reasonable, we will notify you in the app and give you a chance to sync and export; for
serious abuse (Section 4) we may suspend immediately.
What deletion does. Requesting deletion signs out every device immediately
and starts a seven-day window; when it ends, everything we hold for the account is
permanently erased. Signing in again during the window cancels it. The vault on your
phone is untouched unless you also choose to erase that device: deleting the
account deletes the mirror, not the vault. Deletion is never conditioned on anything, and a
later sign-in with the same Google account starts a new, empty cloud account rather than
restoring the old one.
The one-time purchase and deletion. The higher storage ceiling is a
property of the account. Deleting the account deletes the purchase record with it, and we
cannot restore it to a new account afterwards; whether any refund is available is a matter
of Google Play's refund policy and applicable law.
Sections 1, 5 (as to short-lived backups), 11, 12, 13, and 14 survive termination.
10. Local Vault, No Account
The vault on your phone (items, photos, reminders, PDF and calendar exports, and the file
backup) runs entirely on your device and needs no account. For that use, these terms apply
only as follows: Section 1 (what the records are and are not), this section, and Sections 11
through 16. You are responsible for your own device backups; the app's export exists for
exactly that.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided
without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without
limitation warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a
particular purpose, and non-infringement. Without limiting Section 1, we do not warrant that
any computed expiry date, reminder, scanned field, export, or sync is correct, complete, or
timely, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copies of documents that matter; the
vault export exists for that.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
-
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or
punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or
in connection with the Service or these terms, under any legal theory (contract, tort,
negligence, strict liability, or otherwise), even if advised of the possibility.
-
We are not liable for the outcome of any warranty claim, return, or insurance claim you
pursue, or for a missed deadline, whether or not a reminder was scheduled or delivered.
-
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the
greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim
and (b) EUR 50.
Where these limits do not apply. Some jurisdictions do not allow the
exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities. Nothing in these
terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law,
including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or
fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or willful misconduct where such limits
are not permitted, or any consumer right that applicable law makes non-waivable. In those
cases, these terms apply to the maximum extent that law allows.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from
claims, demands, and damages (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party
arising out of Your Content, your breach of these terms, or your violation of law or of
another person's rights in connection with the Service. This does not apply to the extent a
claim results from our own breach of these terms, and it does not limit any non-waivable
consumer protections.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Greece, excluding its conflict-of-law rules.
Disputes arising from these terms or the Service will be brought in the courts of Greece.
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or another jurisdiction whose law gives you mandatory
protections or a home-court right, nothing here deprives you of them; you may also be able
to use local courts and your local consumer-protection rules.
Before going to court, contact us at
christos@sudo-ezekiel.com; most issues can be
resolved informally, and we commit to responding within 30 days.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the Service, the law, or app-store requirements change. For
material changes we will give at least 30 days advance notice in the app and on this page,
with the new effective date. If you do not agree to the updated terms, stop using the
Service and delete your account before they take effect; continued use after the effective
date constitutes acceptance. Non-material changes (typos, clarifications) may take effect on
posting.
16. General
-
Entire agreement. These terms and the privacy policy are the entire
agreement between you and us about the Service.
-
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be enforced
to the maximum extent permissible and the rest remains in force.
- No waiver. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
-
Assignment. You may not assign these terms. We may assign them as part of
a transfer of the Service, with notice to you.
